My client is seeking an MLRO to form part of their team and be responsible for overseeing all AML/CFT related matters reporting directly to the board.  This a very important and key role within the company, and my client is looking for the right person to join their fast-growing team of top performers and innovators and help to elevate their prevention, detection and mitigation capacity  to the next level. This role is based in their Malta office, however they will consider a remote role for the right candidate with relevant industry experience.

 

The Role

The MLRO Ensures the company remains compliant with all relevant AML/CFT regulations, providing recommendations for system and procedural enhancements in regard to AML/CFT and takes ownership of designing, implementing, and maintaining AML/CFT policy manuals including the Business Risk Assessment (BRA) and the Customer Risk Assessment (CRA).

You will analyse inherent risks raised in audits and risk assessments, implementing the necessary control mechanisms and ensuring they are addressed in accordance with agreed timelines with responsibility for regulatory reporting related to AML/CFT including submission of the Risk Evaluation Questionnaire (REQ)

You will provide updates as required, particularly in quarterly board meetings and monthly management meetings in relations to AML/CFT, deal with regulators in a co-operative and timely manner and have ownership of key aspects of external third-party audits in accordance with AML/CFT obligations

You will report any suspicious transactions/activity to the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) and assist with defining technical requirements and operational processes to ensure they are in line with relevant AML/CFT regulations

 

Your Expertise

You will have In depth knowledge of relevant AML/CFT laws and regulations, particularly the FIAU Implementing Procedures (IPs), Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR), Anti Money Laundering Directive (AMLD) and also possess the following:

  • Qualifications or professional certifications in a relevant field
  • Ability to work and make decisions under pressure
  • Previous experience in a similar role is a must
  • Good understanding of the gaming industry
  • Familiarisation with regulated markets would be considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, for both internal and external interactions
  • Integrity and professional ethics
  • Business acumen
  • Experience in risk management would be considered an asset
  • Highly developed sense of teamwork and cooperation
  • Attention to detail
  • Pro-active and able to work on own initiative
  • Be fluent in reporting procedures and record keeping
